My family's stay at the Mantra was a mixed bag. We landed a spacious townhouse, converted from a one-bedroom unit, which was perfect for our needs-especially with a comfy living area and all the kitchen gear we needed. Being the marine biologist and ocean lover I am, family-friendly features like kayaking and nearby boat excursions made my heart sing. The place lacks air conditioning in some units. We only had one small fan, but the friendly manager quickly got us two more. The pool was another hiccup-no shade to be found, which made sunny afternoons a challenge. What stood out was the short walk to the centre; after a day of activities like horse trekking or star-gazing at Mount John Observatory, we relished the evening calm. With some tweaks, it's an excellent base for families seeking adventure and a touch of relaxation in the scenic surroundings.
